Quotes: "Rock'n'roll is about doing what the fuck you want. It doesn't have to be about doing huge amounts of drugs or being hedonistic. It's about not caring what anyone else thinks of you. Rock'n'roll is about the seeking of the ultimate pleasure. For us, that means hanging around together and playing music that we all love and not being afraid to say that's why we're doing it. We're a little too frank sometimes, and not as concerned with all the other stuff as we should be. That's fine, though. We just get on with doing it. We don't want to live up to anybody else's cliche."
"It started out as a joke really. We were up at Rockfield Studios in Wales and I came up with this melody. I started trying to sing like Neil Young, just cos the song had the word 'stars' and that seemed like a word you should sing in a Neil Young voice. It's funny how things happen." - Chris on 'Yellow'
Hollywood beauty Gwyneth Paltrow has been spotted cuddling Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - fuelling speculation their romance is becoming serious. Paltrow, who is still recovering from the death of her father Bruce earlier this month, is currently living in Martin's native Britain while she shoots new bio-pic film Ted And Sylvia. She attended the "Yellow" star's gig in Dublin on Sunday night and at the Wembley gig the week before Martin dedicated the song "In My Place" to the Shakespeare In Love actress, who had been given free tickets to the show from the singer. A source says, "They were cuddling up to each backstage and looked very much like a couple."
COLDPLAY played DAVID BOWIE'S MELTDOWN festival last night - and dedicated a song to KYLIE MINOGUE
"I reckon everybody in the world questions whether they're useful to the world or not," said Martin. "Some people think they're doing marvelous things. Hitler thought he was doing great things for the world, and yet we'd all say, 'No, no, no, he was doing terrible things.' Some people would say that Coldplay is a great thing for music and the world. Other people would regard us as the devil incarnate, so of course it's always a conflict"
Coldplay singer Chris Martin says their second LP could be their last, as he won't write another unless it improves on the previous one. Coldplay's forthcoming album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, is due for release within the next few months. Chris said: "As far as I'm concerned this will be the last one we ever make, but I hope that one day we have some more songs," he admitted: "If someone said, 'You've got to start a new album tomorrow' I'd say, 'I don't think we can do better than this'. We'll only do another album if it's better. I don't really care about the whole 15 album thing," he was speaking in London at the launch of Make Trade Fair, an Oxfam campaign calling for a radical shake up of global trade. "I like the whole Joy Division approach," he added. "Two albums then...well, not hang yourself!"
"See, I read more bad stuff about our album than good. I really don't know what I think. There are some nights I love playing it, and some nights I hate it. I know at the time we made it I thought it was a great record because it has soul and passion but also melody. But then six months later, after you've played it X number of times, and some people like it and some people hate it... you're kind of confused yourself. It's like a child -- how can you possibly be objective? I would never listen to it. Once something's done, I don't want to hear it again, because I'd just worry about it."
"We get asked to do funny things from time to time, but for me, doing collaborations is kind of like how I imagine it is when you sleep with someone else's wife," he explained. "I mean they're fun, but I'll always regret them in the morning, not that I've slept with someone else's wife. ... The thing is, if you do a collaboration and you're really good, you think, 'Well, I wish I'd done that with our band.' And then if you do a collaboration and you're really bad, you think, 'Oh, I shouldn't have ever done that.' "

Lyrics
In My Place (A Rush of Blood to the Head)
In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
I was lost, oh yeah
I was lost, I was lost
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed
I was lost, oh yeah
And yeah
How long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
For it
I was scared, I was scared
Tired and under prepared
But I'll wait for it
And if you go, if you go
And leave me down here on my own
Then I'll wait for you, yeah
And yeah
How long must you wait for it?
Yeah, how long must you pay for it?
Yeah, how long must you wait for it?
Singing please, please, please
Come back and sing to me, to me, me
Come on and sing it out, now, now
Come on and sing it out to me, me
Come back and sing
In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
And I was lost, oh yeah
Oh yeah
